etsy baby love

I've been checking etsy and pinterest for cute baby/kid stuff both for things to buy and for inspiration on stuff to make. I originally super loved the timi and leslie diaper bag I posted about earlier, but I just found an etsy bag that I LOVE way more.

Check out all these awesome baby/kid items!!

Love this toddler bedding for Eden. We plan to move her to a toddler bed around 18 months to free up her crib for baby 2. It's gender neutral since they'll be sharing a room but is cute too if I had some colorful pillows or sheets on the bed.

This is from the same etsy shop as the above bedding, but it's a bit more girly with the print. I really love red for a girl. And it would go great in the room if this new one is a boy. The plus is that it's organic bedding!

LOVE this mobile!! It couldn't be more perfect for our rainy state of Washington, but the colorful raindrops are much brighter than our grey days here. I'm totally going to make this.

Love the little cloud pillow on the wall. From the same etsy shop as the bedding...and it totally goes with the baby mobile.

Here's the diaper bag I plan to get. I'm smitten. It's waterproof and has 8 pockets inside for organization. It's about the same size as the timi & leslie one, but I actually like it better. Oh, and did I mention it's half the price? Awesome!

I wanted to do this in Eden's room before she was born but ran out of time and wall space...I still love this idea though. Various fabris in embroidery rings of various of various sizes. Too cute! I'm totally doing this in the kids' room (assuming we have a bigger place where they can share a room).

Last but not least...I'm completely in love with this nursery! It's gender neutral but SO cute. I like the neutral grey walls with the pops of color. Absolutely adorable. Not sure if I'll go with this exact color scheme for our kiddos, but I may do something similar (neutral walls and pops of color).

Are you seeing the grey theme? Haha. I might have a slight obsession with grey!

decorating

I'm in a decoratin' mood. We still don't have an answer on the house we put an offer on 3 1/2 months ago. It's scheduled to foreclose this Friday (it's a short sale...which is why it's taking so long). We requested an extension on the foreclosure, but of course, we don't have an answer on that either. They ('they' being the bank) say our offer is still being reviewed. We're simply requesting that they hold off on foreclosing until the finishing reviewing our offer. If it forecloses, it goes off the market and will go to a cash auction (and we don't have that kind of cash)...so that means no house for us.

anyway

I'm tired of renting and not being able to paint. Although, we can paint where we're at now...they just require that we paint it back white before we move. My hubby isn't a fan of painting, so he would prefer I don't paint. But I am sick of looking at undecorated white walls. Which is why I'm going to start decorating. I just ordered this fabulous print for my kitchen from Rifle Paper Co:

And these assorted cards (I plan to frame them):

Adorable, no? I also love the artwork in this etsy shop. These are my two favorite prints, but I'm waiting for the hubby to concur (or pick something else from the shop):

I have also been collecting thrift store picture frames that I plan to spray paint and random glass bottles. I'm not a beer drinker (I don't like the taste), but they come in some really cool bottles at the market by us. So I buy the beer for the bottle...I either wait until my brother-in-law will be over so I can give him the beer or I dump it! (wasteful, I know, but what else am I going to do with it?) I also love the Fentiman's bottles. And their drinks are delicious. I'm a particular fan of the victorian lemonade and the mandarin and seville orange jigger.

Aren't these cool?

I'm also in the mood to bring out the fall decor! I want to get this wreath for our front door:

And I want to make this wreath for inside (the flowers are made out of dyed coffee filters!):

Ok. I'm done. Sorry for the picture overload. I've been obsessing with crafts and decorating while the hubby is gone for work (gotta keep busy some how!).

daydreaming

We still haven't heard back on the house yet.

This is the house we made an offer on at the beginning of June:

It's an old craftsman style house that was built in 1918. It needs a little TLC and some major yard work, but we're really hoping it works out! As I said before, it's a short sale, so it takes forever to get an answer. We should know within the next 2 weeks or so.

I'm trying hard not to get my hopes up or to get too excited about it. I just can't help but daydream about the way I'd decorate the inside.

I saw this color palette on decor8blog.com, and I love it! I'd love to do this in my sewing/craft room (because I will have one if we get said house). It would be adorable in Eden's room too. The funny thing is that I loathed the color pink until I gave birth to a baby girl in April. I think I was traumatized as a child. My mom decorated everything in my room pink. Walls=pink, bedding=pink, dresser=white w/pink stenciled hearts, decorations and artwork=pink. I'm not kidding. And because of that, I think I just got "pinked out" or something. I love the variations of pinks in this palette and the hues of green and blue. So happy and cheery. A room in this palette would do me some good, I think!

Christmas is coming early...

To our household! Today I get to go pick up my Christmas/birthday/valentine's/easter (etc) present.

Isn't she beautiful? Yes, that is Anthro's Rosette Quilt. I've been coveting it for the last 6 or 7 months. I have to touch it every time I walk into the store. Well, Anthro was lovely and sent me a 15% off coupon for my birthday, and THIS is what I'm using it on! My hubby is wonderful. Thank you, babe!

Nursery photo inspiration

I know, I know. I just posted on the pom poms, but when I said I can't stop thinking about how to decorate, I really meant it! I think I'm getting obsessive over here! Here are some photos (baby related or not) that I'm finding inspiration from. I hope they inspire you a little too.

I love the vintage feel with the white walls and dark warm wood. It's so cozy.

LOVE the painted spindle cribs. A spindle crib will be a must for this munckin!

A photo mobile...what an awesome idea! It would be so cool to put baby or child pictures of your grandparents, parents and yourself and spouse on there.

I'm in love with this dresser (both color and style) as well as that rug! Ok, and the rocking chair. Um...I guess I just love it all! Bright and cheery without being overwhelming. LOVE. And it's very gender neutral, which is a plus because it saves you money on baby #2 (or 3 or 4, etc).

Love, love, LOVE this wall art idea! I'm a sewer and quilter, so this just screamed at me. And it's such a great way to add color to dull walls. We're in a rental, and we're stuck with stark white walls. This would be the perfect way to add some visual interest.

This is very girly, but I just love the bunting, twinkly lights, and vintage/eclectic feel. Um...I pretty much love everything from knack.

I know, I've got a bit of a mobile obsession here, but these bamboo cut mobiles from petite collage are to die for! My problem is going to be only picking ONE!

Another adroable mobile from petite collage

Ok, can you see what I love these so much??

I love the vintage and very natural feel of this mobile and I really wanted to incorporate birds or owls into my design...but how do I choose just ONE mobile?! Bah! I'm sunk...

Nursery decorating ideas

I've been daydreaming about decorating the baby's room a lot lately. Unfortunately, I can't really act on any of it until we know the gender...which won't be for another 6 to 7 weeks...which seems like forever, but I know it will come faster than I realize. I've decided that if it's a girl (because I think this just might be too girly for a boy), I'm going to decorate with paper pom poms. Have you seen those? I'm in love with them. My best friend used them in her wedding, and I absolutely loved them. The more I thought about it, the more I decided they would be adorable for a baby girl's room. I'm inspired by these pictures. Don't you just love them?

Monday, Monday

This weekend was rather productive. Corey and I went thrifting on Saturday and found some good stuff. Got a couple books for $.50 each, a lamp (that I painted) for $3.50, and an old window for $10 that I have a project in mind for. Plus, we got the garage cleared out/organized, some furniture sold on Craig’s List, and I started painting the dresser. I also got a picture frame that I’m doing something with that I need to apply the 2nd coat of paint to. I forgot to take before pictures of the lamp and picture frame, but I’ll post the finished pictures maybe later tonight. The lamp should be done drying by the time I get home from work, so I just need to find a new lampshade. The dresser is looking good. A third coat of paint will be needed to fully cover the old pink trim, and then I’m done. Now onto the next project…dresser number two! Dresser number two is going to need a full paint job, not just an easy trim this time. So that will be a much bigger project and more dramatic before/after. Pics to come, so stay tuned! Sorry this post is so short…I guess it’s just a little teaser for the posts to come! Now you have to come back and check them out later this week :) Happy Monday! I’ll leave you with a few inspirational (at least for me) pictures to enjoy.

Photo is compliments of knack

Weekend Projects

You may remember my poster here about my great lamp finds...

Well I've finally got them up and running! I decided to keep one lamp as-is but had to replace the top portion where you screw the light bulb in and get some lamp shades.

I got the replacement base socket at Lowes for a couple bucks, had the hubby rewire it, added a linen shade I found on clearance from Restoration Hardware, and voila! Isn't it pretty?

And here is the Value Village find for $2... before it was this icky brass color.

A little scratching of the glossy surface with some 000 grade steel wool, a good coat of primer and paint...

And... TADA!!

Aren't they pretty? Now I need to find a few more lamps for around the house! Before/after on the garage sale dresser to come!
