Upcoming projects

Hey all! Stay tuned for some before/afters. This week I've got an outdoor patio/bistro set I'm painting for a friend. The month of November will bring me three commission pieces...an armoire, buffet, and a side table. All of them will be done in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint with the wax finish. It'll be my first time working with ASCP, so wish me luck!

In other news, we've withdrawn our offer on the house. After 5 months of waiting and Freddie Mac continuing to claim they don't have the paperwork that has been resubmitted time and time again, we're frustrated and frankly ready to be done with the whole thing. After getting our hopes up on yet another short sale (this is the second short sale we've made an offer on), we've vowed to never offer on another one. Unfortunately, most houses in our price range are short sales. So we'll make due with our teensy apartment for a while longer. I've got some ideas for creative storage and lots of plans for redecorating and reorganizing. More on that later!

New project...coming soon!

I just bought myself this media stand off Craig's List for cheap. We're currently using our coffee table to house our television, cable box and DVD player. I think it's time for an upgrade. Well, that and I want my coffee table back!

I think this thing is going to get a paint job and maybe a little something on the glass...I have ideas in my head :)
I'll post pictures when I'm done! You'll have to forgive the poor picture quality. I stole it off the Craig's List ad.

Projects update

Ok, so you know that hutch I mentioned last post? I decided to nix it. I’m reselling it as-is. It’s a bigger project than I realized, and I have to have it done before we move next week (which won’t happen). I will be refinishing a kitchen table and turning it into a desk though next week (also has to be done before our move!), so stay tuned for that. I’ll be hunting for another hutch soon, but I need to get settled and situated first. Plus, we’ll be adding a new addition to our family (a dog!), and we need to get him arranged and comfortable before I start spending my time on another project. I’ll just have to make due temporarily with what we have, but that’s ok! You do what you have to do, right? :)

I’ll be gone on the Oregon coast camping with my in-laws for the rest of the week and weekend, so I won’t be able to post again until next week. Happy Tuesday!

Hutch!

I know I've been a little um...not around lately. You'll have to excuse me...lots going on with the Hansen clan. We're moving in 2 weeks, and we'll be gone camping for 5 days next week, so I have a lot of packing and organizing/decluttering to do! We're not moving far, just 15 miles or so away, but we love the area we're moving to. And we're getting...a dog!!

His name is Huck...isn't he just the cutest thing ever?! He's a one year old pocket beagle, and he's already housetrained...and I am ecstatic to get him! He'll be joining us in late August!

Ok, now for the whole reason I got on here...I have a hutch I'm getting ready to redo for our place. I'll post pictures a little later. I just wanted to let you all know that I'm actually working on something, not slacking!

Here's to change and new adventures!

New projects

Stay tuned because I have several posts coming! I’ll be featuring a friend’s gorgeous little apartment, my finished dressers, some curtains I’m making for the bedroom, and a new restoration project – a 100+ year old school desk. So check back soon! Happy Monday, all!

Dresser #1

Well, I had hoped to come home from work tonight and post fabulous pictures of my finished dresser. Unfortunately...that's not the case. I guess it's all part of the learning process as I'm pretty new to painting/fixing up furniture. I didn't use the right tape or just did something completely wrong (or both), and it totally screwed up my lines. I spent HOURS taping this thing! UGH! So frustrating. So, pretty much I am just going to repaint the entire dresser. I can't really cover up the mistakes without touching up the white, and I doubt I could find an exact match. So I'm just redoing the whole thing. You can see the "before" pictures below though when it was still white and pink.

Oh well. Like I said, part of the learning process. It's 9pm, so it's too late to start on the dresser tonight, but I DID come home from Home Depot with a new can of paint, some paint brushes and more sand paper to get this redo started tomorrow! Hoping to be done by the middle of next week.

Monday, Monday

This weekend was rather productive. Corey and I went thrifting on Saturday and found some good stuff. Got a couple books for $.50 each, a lamp (that I painted) for $3.50, and an old window for $10 that I have a project in mind for. Plus, we got the garage cleared out/organized, some furniture sold on Craig’s List, and I started painting the dresser. I also got a picture frame that I’m doing something with that I need to apply the 2nd coat of paint to. I forgot to take before pictures of the lamp and picture frame, but I’ll post the finished pictures maybe later tonight. The lamp should be done drying by the time I get home from work, so I just need to find a new lampshade. The dresser is looking good. A third coat of paint will be needed to fully cover the old pink trim, and then I’m done. Now onto the next project…dresser number two! Dresser number two is going to need a full paint job, not just an easy trim this time. So that will be a much bigger project and more dramatic before/after. Pics to come, so stay tuned! Sorry this post is so short…I guess it’s just a little teaser for the posts to come! Now you have to come back and check them out later this week :) Happy Monday! I’ll leave you with a few inspirational (at least for me) pictures to enjoy.

I'm still looking for dressers and trying to figure out what to do for a duvet cover. I haven't bought everything you see...it's a work in progress. It's just to give you an overall feel for the style I'm going for. Pretty much I just want to buy everything at Urban Outfitters (UO). If anyone wants to take me there for a shopping spree, I would gladly oblige!
